Last summer, shell jewellery was all the rage. The laid back, beachy vibes it gives off are perfect for chilled out evenings with friends and family, or even days at the seaside.
The problem is, it’s a little too informal to transition well to the workplace or more formal occasions. But this is where pearls come in.
Marie Claire recently pointed out that the pearl is the key to embracing the shell jewellery trend and having pieces that you can wear to any occasion.
The magazine also pointed out that this doesn’t have to mean old-fashioned pearl jewellery, like the kind you might associate with your grandmother. There are some excellent examples of more unique pearl jewellery out there.
“This season, pearls are enjoying a chic baroque twist, embellished with semi-precious stones and collaborating with heavy gold chains and gems, or weighing down a delicate hoop,” the publication stated.
You may even want to invest in a necklace earring set to give you the perfect jewellery for day or night.
Vogue recently picked out some of the top jewellery trends for 2019, based on what’s been appearing on the world’s catwalks. Among them is the move towards matching sets of jewellery, as well as pearls.
The magazine showcased examples of pearl jewellery being used by fashion houses including Givenchy, Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana, among others. The jewellery ranges from oversized pearls, as seen on the runway at the Dolce & Gabbana show, to statement drop earrings and matching headbands as showcased by Simone Rocha.
